The end of October also saw the end of the ORGATEC exhibition in Cologne. This German tradeshow featured more than 600 companies from around the globe – and about 50,000 visitors. In the past, the exhibition was primarily a product showcase. However, ORGATEC has apparently shifted to a “theme” based trade fair with more emphasis on new concepts that fit tomorrow’s imagined work styles and environments. Top areas of interest were communication, technology, movement, and wellness. These are definitely themes that are cropping up in the US as well. At NeoCon, we’ve seen the proliferation of sit-to-stand workstations and tech-enabled office furniture for conference rooms and work areas for mobile workers.
