What’s the wackiest material you’ve ever seen made into office furniture? How about concrete? That doesn’t sound like the most comfortable material in the world, but it apparently has its charms. An Australian company contracted with Blok Furniture to create a collection of tables and benches for the break room/staff meeting area at their office. Obviously, solid cast concrete would have been extraordinarily heavy – no one would have been able to move the furniture once it was in place. So, the design firm used a surface material that gave the furnishings the exterior look of concrete while keeping the items lightweight. The clean lines are appealing, but we guess these benches aren’t the most inviting shape to sit on. That’s certainly one way to cut down on people taking longer breaks than they are allowed at work…
