Every major office furniture designer seems to enjoy displaying a few items that are whimsical and fun. With Knoll, it’s a line of children’s chairs and worktables. The Amoeba table is designed to resemble a shapeless blob (which is actually a more attractive look than you’d think). The legs are solid beech, but the top is laminate that can be cleaned with soap and water or Windex. The accompanying side chair – also from the Risom collection – is solid beech with a webbed seat available in 4 primary colors.
The suggested retail price for a table and chair runs over $600, so you will want to make sure your kid gets as much use out of this set as possible. If that means they don’t get to start sitting at the “grown up” table until they hit puberty, so be it. At least they’ll have gained an appreciation for Scandinavian Modernism when it comes to furniture!
