When budgets are tight (and they normally are,) it can be easy to prioritize other things over the desks that you and your colleagues work at. If they are still standing and haven’t actually pinned anyone with a splinter, people are inclined to ignore them. This is really unfortunate. Desks are important tools in our box. Having a desk that fits our individual and business needs increases our productivity and gives a good impression to clients. At some point, though, your old desk will no longer work for us. Here are the signs that it is time to trade up.
It No Longer Matches the Decor
As picky as it may sound, your clientele will appreciate your furniture matching color and general theme. A unified appearance for your office looks professional and gives your clients confidence in your work.
It’s No Longer Big Enough for Your Work Needs
Maybe you started out needing only a basic laptop and a basket for the completed work. That probably did not last long. Your desk should be able to accommodate your computer, papers, and tools without crowding.
It Is Too Ratty To Repair
You should take proper care of your desk, but eventually it will wear out. When the wood becomes warped and cracked beyond what anyone can repair, it can be a real pain to work on. Spots become worn from habitual use and accidental scratches add up. You can get it deep cleaned and refurbished only so many times.
